Deeper Android Integration Viewed by Twitter
It has now become clear to everyone that Android is not the safest platform. As the Android devices are now the most popular across the globe, malwares are also growing at an increasing pace, especially in the last year. Few companies have taken measures for the improvement of Android security through the backup services and encryption, and that has gained the attention of Twitter as well. An enterprise-grade security provider for Android devices, WhisperSystems, has now been taken over by Android for an amount which has not been made public, starting a handful of decisions which are going to be taken by the company. For many it is a surprising purchase as many have been wondering what would Twitter do with the encryption tools.
Currently Whisper Systems is in its beta phase with a handful of products that include WhisperCore 0.5 helps in the protection of Android device content. Another noteworthy product is Flashback 0.1, which performs the function of encrypting backups of device cloud content in the cloud, and the ability of RedPhone 0.4 to encrypt and secure calls. So what had initiated as the product aimed at helping the Android users hide from Google and users, WhisperSystems has now placed the responsibility of security to the systems themselves.
According to the NextWeb, it is indeed a good step for Twitter. Enhanced security is a thing which just every social application should have, and specifically Twitter is in need to enhance its security. The ability of WhisperSystems to integrate with the underlying Android OS for the protection of device content could allow Twitter to more strictly and tightly incorporate its application on Android handsets.
