Abuse Video Prompted Afghan Soldier to Kill French Troops

According to the security forces the Afghan soldier who had killed the four French troops has said that he was prompted to commit such an act after watching the abuse video of the US soldiers urinating on the heads of the dead Taliban. On Friday the violent attack came wounding some 15 unarmed French troops at a base in eastern Afghanistan, out of which eight are in critical condition. An Afghan army officer said that during the initial investigations carried by the French troops, the culprit told them that he committed the act because in the video American soldiers were urinating on the bodies of the Taliban. This report was further approved by the intelligence source, and another source which has got access to the Afghan military of defense. Both the source shave authenticated the news on the condition of anonymity.

The intelligence source said that in the initial confessions by the Afghan solider, he was strongly motivated to take such an extreme act after he saw foreigners urinating on the corpses of Afghan nationals. The arrested soldier had then also referred to a video of British soldiers who were abusing an Afghan soldier.

Just less than week before the video of US soldiers insulting the corpses surfaced, the British military police had arrested two servicemen who were accused of doing so with two Afghan children aged 10, a boy and a girl, and then filming it. In addition to this a spokesman of the British embassy in Kabul has said that an investigation was being carried out of the incident and therefore the embassy was not in a position to comment on the claims made by the soldier.
