Apple has the Opportunity of Selling 40 Million iPhones in China
China is second most popular market for mobile devices in the world after the United States. According to an analyst in the next two years the growth for the Chinese markets would be tremendous for iPhones and iPads. A report by Apple Insider says that Morgan Stanley is expecting that Apple Inc would continue the expansion of its operations in China after the formation of partnerships with China Mobile and China Telecom, and adding these two Chinese telecom giants to its fold. Apple is currently selling its iPhones in the country through China Unicom. When the partnerships are actually there, then according to Morgan Stanley, Apple Inc will be in a position to sell some 40 million iPhones in China next year.
Analyst Katy Burty has given these figures, which believes that a vast potential in China has not been tapped yet by Apple or the iPhone, as the phone is available to the customers only through one carrier. Huberty says that among the 150 high-end Chinese subscribers, Apple is currently able to reach to only 10 per cent of them due to the fact that it has only one carrier and for iPhone which is China Unicom. A vast majority of subscribers are associated with China Mobile, and out of these according to an estimate some 120 million more than 100RMB (about $16) per month on their phone service.
The statistics indicate that there is a huge untapped market in the country whose potential could be exploited very well if Apple Inc. starts working with other carriers in China too.
